Hey,
I was wondering if anyone had done the Perforce/Visual SlickEdit
Integration. Specifically, under Visual SlickEdit environment, you can
define buttons that will execute SCM type commands. For example, a checkout
button. Has anyone set up this environment for Perforce?
Thanks for any help.

Andrew,

I posted a similiar question a few months ago. I also contacted MicroAge to find
out if they supported Perforce. As Mark has stated the latest version of
SlickEdit includes support for Perforce. Unfortunately, I am running version
3.0b and don't feel like paying $99 for the upgrade to my $275 editor. SlickEdit
does include the capability to customize the tool support but I was unable to
get a set of perforce commands that would work.

Perforce is an option under
Tools / Version Control / Setup / SCC Providers
I'm using SlickEdit version 4.0c.

Mark

I am using version 4.? and the integration with Perforce is okay. It works
well for checking out files which is good enough for me.

I used to use version 3 and I configured SlickEdit as though I were using
PVCS and then changed the commands it issues to the appropriate perforce
commands. This worked well enough for checking files out also.

I have not been able to get a set of commands that will work properly. I can
get the files checked out but can't submit using SlickEdit. The problem in
checking files in is handling how perforce launches an editor for submit
comments. Can you provide the set of commands that version 4.c is using? I
might be able to use those.

Chris,

I'm not sure what kind of capabilities are included with the term
'Perforce integration' in SlickEdit, but even in lowly vi we can create
macros e.g.:

map \co :!p4 edit %^M:e!^M "checkout this file
map \uco :!p4 revert %^M:e!^M "un-checkout this file
map \di :!tkdiff %&^M "diff current with #head

Eric
