Hi Sajay,

You need to use the capital '-S' flag to see shelved files with the
describe command.

����p4 describe -S 1234

Are you sure you are looking at the correct changelist number? Was the file
shelved into a new changelist or the same change?

Thank U for ur quick responce
I have installed a p4 server and client as a test environment and I am the
admin. I have full access.

These are the steps I have executed
1) Shelved files to a change list (number 13 ) with a description "Test
Sajay Balan"
2) submitted the change list 13 using "submit shelved files"
3) modified the description in the form to read..."Test SajayBalan Adding
some more comments"
4) Submit the changes (Files have successfully submitted)... the pending change
list 13 becomes submitted change list 13...
where is my comments? How do I access it?

Attached the 4 screen shots

Ur help is much appreciated

p4 describe -S 13 gives me the old change list description...
How do I get the new one I modified in the form?

Hi Sajay,

I have reproduced the behavior you are seeing.��Currently, while you
can submit shelved files directly, due to limitations on the shelving of files,
it is not possible to change the description when submitted them via
P4V.��However, you can change the description after the submit or
unshelve the files first and then submit which will allow you to change the
description.

There is an open bug for this in our system and I have added you as a customer
who has reported it as It is misleading that in P4V you can type in changes to
the descritption, but they are not saved.

Our pipeline needs the files shelved before it can be submitted.

Hello!

   Bummer about the lost changelist
description!  I'm not aware of a way to recover it.

Do you know if there are any triggers active at your site? I did some looking
for a bug report, and found a report titled "Change description updates by
trigger are sometimes being lost" - (job080355).  If your local
site admins have implemented certain types of triggers that interact with the
'change spec' form that contains your changelist description, it is
possible this isn't a simple bug, but a more complex "interaction
between systems" bug.

I would suspect it is a complex bug like that, which might even be in the
trigger.

Please do ping ***@perforce.com to follow up on this. If you do have
triggers at your site, mention job080355 as a possible root cause.
